Sheep Shearing 2025

Spring is here, the time is near for the shearing of the sheep!

Saturday, April 19th
We will start at 7:30am
and go until it's done, probably around 1:00 pm

260 135th St.
Amery, WI 54001

(Please note the location! We will be shearing at the new farm across the street in the big pole barn there.)

We'll be sorting sheep, shearing, hoof trimming, and sorting the wool of about 140 sheep on April 19th. We'd love your help!

We will be providing lunch for everyone (extra food/snacks are welcome, but by no means expected).

Experience is certainly appreciated, but not required. And if you have little ones or you aren't necessarily able to help with the sheep, we're also always happy to have folks stopping by to watch. Just let us know if you plan to attend so we know what to expect.

Before we begin shearing around 8:00 we will circle up to assign and explain roles for volunteers.

If you intend on handling sheep and/or helping with hoof trimming please watch this short instructional how-to video, which demonstrates proper sheep handling as well as hoof trimming.

We'll have snacks and coffee/tea available throughout the morning, and then eat lunch together whenever we finish up shearing.

RSVP by emailing whetstonefarmers@gmail.com, and feel free to call or text Klaus at 715-501-0786 if you have any questions or if you're lost.
